Usage
The WS wind detector for UCS smoke extraction units is designed to monitor wind speed and trigger automatic closing of openings, such as windows or vents, in case of high winds during smoke extraction applications in buildings.
Advantages
- Provides reliable wind detection for safety-critical smoke ventilation systems
- Allows customizable wind speed threshold thanks to a 10-position rotary selector switch
- Compact design integrates seamlessly with UCS control panels
- Tolerates harsh conditions: operating temperature from -10°C to +80°C and humidity up to 95%
- Prevents manual override after activation for a configurable delay period, enhancing operational integrity
Specifications
- Anemometer-type sensor delivering a variable signal proportional to actual wind intensity; setting adjustable via rotary dial (10 levels)
- Splash-proof construction suitable for building exteriors; compatible with roof and inclined window installations; protection rating typically IP30–IP42 depending on version[3]
- Operating temperature: -10°C to +80°C; max. relative humidity: <95%; maximum measurable airspeed: up to ~10 m/s[1]
- Differentiating feature: integrates directly with UCS smoke extraction controls, enabling fully automated weather response even under adverse conditions[1][3]
How it works
The detector continuously measures ambient wind speed. When the set threshold is reached, it signals the central control unit, which then commands the automatic closure of motorized openings used in smoke ventilation systems. This action helps protect building interiors during extreme weather events and maintains effective smoke extraction safety workflows.[1][3]
