Usage
The 4SAFE 700mm safety detector secures swing door operators by detecting people or obstacles in the path of moving doors, preventing accidental contact and enhancing user safety in access-controlled environments such as commercial buildings and public facilities.
Advantages
- Active infrared technology ensures reliable presence detection across the door’s movement zone.
- Coverage area of approximately 400mm width x 70mm depth at a typical mounting height of 2 meters for effective protection.
- Simple one-button configuration with additional DIP-switch fine-tuning for quick installation and adjustment.
- Daisy-chain connection supports multiple modules, enabling full-width coverage on wider doors.
- Slight sensitivity to highly reflective surfaces may require careful orientation during installation.
Specifications
- Made with robust ABS housing; designed for surface mounting on the door leaf at heights from 1.3m to 3.5m.
- Carries IP54 protection rating and complies with key standards including EN16005, EN12978+A1, EN ISO 13849-1 (Performance Level “c”, Cat. 2), DIN18650-1 ch. 5.7.4, EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, MD 2006/42/EC.
- Covers a detection field of up to approximately 400 × 70 mm; supports supply voltages from 12–24 V AC or 12–30 V DC; reaction time typically 64 ms; maximum current consumption depends on voltage but is typically up to about 130 mA at DC input for master module.
- Main features include two relay outputs (potential-free contact), scalable module chain (up to four modules per standard installation or six with higher voltage), infinite presence timer, and operation in temperatures from –25°C to +55°C with a projected lifetime up to twenty years depending on use conditions.
How it works
The detector emits active infrared beams that form an invisible sensing curtain along the protected section of the swing door leaf. When any person or object interrupts these beams while the door is moving, the device instantly signals the operator control system to stop or reverse motion, thus protecting users from impact injuries.
