VEDI Roll-Up FAQ
The 100 x 235 cm format was designed to solve a major flaw of classic models (often limited to 2 m): the message becoming invisible in a crowd. At 2.35 m, the message rises above people's heads, offering 40% more visibility and improved readability from a distance.
Yes. The 2.35 m height was chosen because it remains compatible with the height accepted at most fairs and trade shows, where the available ceiling clearance is generally sufficient. As a broader reference point: the maximum height allowed on a stand depends on the organiser (often 2.5 m, the usual partition height, up to 5 m for large fairs) — at 2 m high you fit everywhere without risk, and if in doubt you should check directly with the organisers.
Yes. The Original Roll-Up is adjustable from 170 to 300 cm in height and comes in widths of 85, 100, 150 and 200 cm (12 sizes in the current catalogue), up to a surface of 6 m² (200 x 300 cm). It remains stable up to 3 m.
The 100 x 235 cm format is proportional to the 85 x 200 cm format (100/85 = 1.176 and 235/200 = 1.175). You simply apply an enlargement coefficient of about 17.6% (zoom to 117.6%) to your base file for it to be ready to use.
Durability and structure: the Standard is a light entry-level model (aluminium base with stabilising feet, 15 mm pole), while the Original is sturdier and more stable, with a thicker 22 mm telescopic pole. Assembly: the Original has a telescopic pole adjustable from 170 to 300 cm, which makes it easier to position the top of the graphic without having to stand on a chair. Transport: the Standard's bag is in simple unlined nylon, while the Original's is in topstitched, lined nylon, with anti-shock foam padding and cardboard, a wide case-style opening and a label holder, to better protect the frame. Price: the Standard is the cheapest support in the range (€39 excl. VAT); the Original sits above it (from €79 excl. VAT).
As an indication (historical data from the FAQ site, not re-confirmed on the current catalogue): the Standard Roll-Up would last about 3 events, the Original around twenty, and the DeLuxe over 50. Colour hold (sensitive to UV) is generally guaranteed for 2 years whatever the model; it is mainly the mechanical resistance of the housing that varies from one model to another.
The DeLuxe stands out with a more refined design and a more careful finish (anodised aluminium housing with chrome caps). It is free-standing, without a pivoting foot, which greatly reduces its footprint compared to the Original with its rotating feet. Changing the image is particularly simple thanks to a clip-on bar system that opens and closes in seconds. It is available on two print media: Max-Flat grey-backed 450 g (fire rated B2) and Indoor 325 g (fire rated M1-B1). Current price: €149 excl. VAT (3 sizes).
The Original Roll-Up is fitted, depending on the width, with one or two rotating feet as well as two stabilisers at the ends that reinforce its vertical hold. In case of exposure to draughts or crowd movement, it is also possible to weight the feet to further strengthen stability.
Yes, available as a product in its own right (€149 excl. VAT in the current catalogue). It has two separate roller systems (one front, one back), which lets you display a single image or both at once, for 360° reading or to broadcast two different messages in the same location (for example a message in two languages, or a welcome message on the front and a thank-you on the back).
Yes, the "Outdoor roll-up - Giant pavement sign" (€259 excl. VAT in the current catalogue) acts as a pre-sign or reinforced pavement sign, with a height reaching up to 2 m. It requires more maintenance than an indoor model: to be anchored with stakes or pegs in windy weather (preferably on soft ground), to be brought in each evening, and to be dried well before prolonged storage if it has been exposed to rain. It is not recommended to leave it outside continuously for more than 2 weeks.
Yes, the "A3 table roll-up" (€19.90 excl. VAT in the current catalogue), also called a countertop POS or mini roll-up. It unrolls and rolls up in under 30 seconds, is easy to carry (even in a handbag) and is suitable for displaying a logo, a product or contact details on a counter, at a trade show or in a meeting room.
Yes, from above, with a halogen or LED spotlight (LED recommended for its longer lifespan), fixed on the vertical bar of the roller and powered by a simple electrical socket. All models can be lit, except the table roll-up which cannot; the double-sided model can only be lit on one side at a time.
The image is glued to an aluminium tube fitted with a spring inside the housing; it is this spring that handles the rolling/unrolling. A knock during transport can make the spring jump out of its notch and prevent it from rolling back up. In that case, do not try to dismantle the housing yourself (risk of damaging the graphic): contact after-sales support with a photo of the problem. A backup key, hidden under the housing, allows the spring to be re-tensioned — this operation is in principle carried out by VEDI after-sales.
Yes. Whatever the model, it is possible to change only the graphic without replacing the whole device, by ordering a New image (kit compatible with all models, €33.12 excl. VAT in the current catalogue). This saves money while extending the life of the frame. Changing the image yourself is easy and risk-free on the Original and DeLuxe models (sturdier frames); it is however not advised on the Standard model (more fragile housing), for which it is better to order a complete new device directly.
No. At VEDI, the Standard Roll-Up enjoys the same print quality as the Original: 7-colour printers (CMYK + Light Cyan + Light Magenta + Grey) on Max-Flat grey-backed 450 g media. The difference lies in the structure and durability of the housing. A 550 g media is also available as an option for very busy locations where the roller will be handled more, and a light M1 flame-retardant media is available to meet the French administrative requirement for a fire-safety certificate at trade shows.
A resolution around 100 DPI is suitable for a sharp result at a medium viewing distance (about 1 m). There is no point going above 150 DPI: the file would become needlessly heavy without any perceptible gain in quality. For a display viewed from further away, you can go down to 60-70 DPI; for very close viewing, up to 200 DPI.
Work at the real scale of the visible format (without worrying about the bleed, which is managed by VEDI). Avoid layers and transparencies (flatten before sending), vectorise fonts and logos, keep a 2-3 cm safety margin from the edges, and use the CMYK colour profile (RGB is possible on request for professionals). Pantone/Flash colours generally cannot be printed on a Roll-Up.
Yes, it is one of the lightest and most compact devices for travelling. It is recommended to transport it in the hold rather than as hand luggage (particularly for the metal parts, to avoid any issue at customs control), booking special baggage with the airline if needed. VEDI also offers custom dimensions that can be adapted to a given suitcase.
Yes, against manufacturing faults and defects on the frame. The most frequent issue is a misalignment of the roller spring following a knock during transport — a minor problem, usually resolved by VEDI after-sales.
Yes, via the "New image for Roll-Up" kit, compatible with all models. It is the recommended solution to refresh your communication (new season, new message) without buying the whole device again.
