Usage
Designed for precision drilling of metal, the Bosch titanium-coated HSS drill bit Ø3.5 mm is suitable for use with alloyed and non-alloyed steels (up to 900 N/mm² tensile strength), malleable cast iron, sintered iron, silver, aluminum (alloys and pure), copper, bronze, and plexiglass in both workshop and site environments.
Advantages
- Titanium nitride coating reduces friction for longer service life compared to standard HSS bits
- Manufactured from ground solid high-speed steel (HSS) for stable drilling performance
- Cross-ground tip at a 135° angle provides accurate positioning and reduced walking on material surface
- Straight shank compatible with standard three-jaw chucks; diameter tolerances ensure precise fit
- Conforms to DIN 338 standards; optimized chip evacuation but requires proper cooling during operation[1][3]
Specifications
- Design: Ground twist drill bit with straight shank; type N flute geometry according to DIN 338[1][3]
- Material/Coating: Full HSS body with titanium nitride (TiN) surface finish for enhanced durability[1][3]
- Pointe: Cross-ground sharpening per DIN1412C, tip angle: 135° for efficient centering[1][3]
- Lifespan: Up to twice as durable as uncoated HSS when used with appropriate coolant[2]
- Tensile Strength Capability: Drills metals up to a maximum of 900 N/mm² tensile strength[1][3]
How it works
The Ø3.5 mm Bosch titanium drill bit mounts in a standard chuck. Its cross-point tip starts holes precisely without wandering while the TiN coating minimizes heat build-up. For optimal tool life and finish quality in metals up to medium-hardness steel or non-ferrous alloys, always use an appropriate coolant during cutting.[1][3]
