The Pilot FriXion Ball is an erasable gel rollerball pen designed for precise, clean writing that can be corrected and rewritten with ease, making it ideal for everyday use.
Write with the gel tip as with any standard rollerball. To erase, rub the dedicated eraser on the pen's end over the ink — friction-generated heat activates the thermo-sensitive formula, making marks disappear cleanly. The surface can then be rewritten on immediately.
Can the FriXion Ball ink be permanently erased? The ink is thermo-sensitive and disappears through heat generated by friction. Under very cold conditions, erased marks may reappear, so it is not recommended for permanent archival documents.
Is the pen refillable? Yes, the FriXion Ball is designed to be refillable using compatible Pilot FriXion refills, making it a more sustainable long-term writing tool.
What is the line width produced by this pen? The pen produces a 0.35 mm line width using a 0.7 mm medium rollerball tip.
Does the eraser wear out separately from the ink? The friction eraser is integrated into the cap end of the pen. It is designed to last through normal use, though heavy erasing may reduce its effectiveness over time.
Is this pen suitable for use on all paper types? The FriXion Ball performs best on standard smooth paper. Highly textured or coated surfaces may affect both ink application and erasability.
