Usage
This transparent silicone is designed for sealing and assembling glass aquariums built according to DIN 32622 standards, with a maximum size of 60 x 40 x 40 cm. Suitable for use on non-porous materials such as glass and ceramics.
Advantages
- Permanently elastic, accommodates up to 25% permissible deformation.
- High resistance to temperature extremes from -60°C to +180°C.
- Excellent adhesion on non-porous surfaces without the need for primer.
- Easy application with manual or pneumatic caulking guns; forms skin in about 18 minutes at standard conditions.
- Not suitable for plastics, polyacrylates, polycarbonates, or metals prone to corrosion such as aluminum or iron.
Specifications
- Acetoxy curing, one-component silicone sealant based on polysiloxanes; supplied in a transparent paste consistency.
- Permanently elastic with over 90% elastic recovery (ISO 7389) and Shore A hardness of approximately 13 (ISO 868).
- Curing speed: Forms skin within approximately 18 minutes at +23°C/50% RH. Cures at a rate of about 1–2 mm per day under the same conditions. Processing temperature range: +5°C to +40°C.
- Shelf life of up to 15 months when stored in unopened packaging between +5°C and +25°C away from direct sunlight. Complies with French VOC emission class A+ for low emissions.[1][4][5]
How it works
The silicone is applied directly from the cartridge onto clean, dry surfaces using a caulking gun. It cures through exposure to air humidity—forming an elastic joint that seals aquarium glass panels securely against water leakage.[1][5]
