Usage
The RS rain detector for smoke extraction units is designed to automatically monitor weather conditions and trigger the closure of smoke ventilation windows or rooflights during rainfall, ensuring optimal building safety and protection.
Advantages
- Automates the closure of openings in case of rain, protecting interiors and sensitive equipment.
- Integrates seamlessly with UCS smoke extraction systems for coordinated safety responses.
- Supports parallel connection with other detectors, enhancing coverage over large areas.
- Electronic end-of-course control ensures precise operation and minimal maintenance needs.
- A minor drawback is the IP30 protection rating, which limits installation to indoor or sheltered locations[1].
Specifications
- Design: Electronic sensor module suitable for integration into window automation and smoke extraction control circuits; finished in durable materials compatible with building environments[1].
- Protection & Standards: IP30 ingress protection against solid bodies larger than 2.5 mm; intended for mounting where direct water exposure is avoided[1].
- Performance: Activates upon detection of rain; supports parallel wiring; all operating parameters communicated via BUS line where available[1]. Programmable settings include stroke (up to specified window movement), opening/closing percentage, speed, force, and closing position tolerance (referenced from compatible actuator data).
- Differentiators: Ensures all connected frames close when rain is detected (overrides manual commands except emergency smoke extraction); electronic end-stop eliminates mechanical wear points; adaptable for a wide variety of building scenarios including grouped zones or daylight management[1].
How it works
The RS detector senses precipitation on its surface. When rain is detected, it sends a signal to the UCS control system to automatically close connected windows or vents used for natural ventilation or smoke extraction. This action helps maintain indoor safety by preventing water ingress while maintaining emergency override capability when needed[1].
