Usage
This round closed-cell foam backing rod, diameter 25 mm, is used to create an optimal substrate for the application of sealants in expansion joints and frame installations. Suitable for construction and renovation work requiring consistent joint depth.
Advantages
- Made from durable, water-resistant closed-cell polyethylene foam
- Facilitates controlled depth and shape of the applied sealant
- Chemically inert, does not react with most commonly used sealants
- Flexible and compressible to fit irregular gaps or substrates
- Supplied in a practical continuous roll of 100 meters for reduced waste during installation
Specifications
- Circular section: Ø25 mm continuous profile on a coil (100 m length)
- Material: Closed-cell polyethylene foam ensuring low water absorption and excellent insulation properties
- Tensile strength: Maintains structure under compression during installation; density approx. 30–35 kg/m³
- No plasticizers or harmful additives; suitable for most interior and exterior building applications
How it works
The backing rod is inserted into a prepared joint gap before sealing. Its flexibility allows easy fitting; it limits the quantity of sealant needed while providing precise control over joint width and depth, reducing risk of three-point adhesion.
