The Fireball Monster Square 200mm Aluminum is a precision welding square designed to quickly position workpieces at 90° or 45° angles. Its lightweight aluminum construction makes it ideal for mobile welding setups and fabrication work.
The Monster Square secures workpieces firmly in place during setup and welding. Position the square at your desired angle, clamp it using pliers or standard clamps on any of its multiple surfaces, and use the tabs to prevent twist and maintain alignment throughout the welding process. The square works equally well with flat stock and round tubing.
Is the aluminum version suitable for heavy-duty projects? The aluminum version is lightweight and ideal for mobile welding, but it is not recommended for heavy loads or frequent impacts, as it can dent or deform if dropped. For heavy-duty applications, consider the cast iron version with Dragon Scale coating.
What makes the Monster Square different from a traditional speed square? The Monster Square combines the reference-in-space capability of a welding square with the precision of a speed square. Its larger surfaces and multiple clamping points provide rigid holds without complex setups, while the offset web design is edge-friendly for various workpiece configurations.
Can I use the Monster Square for angles other than 90° and 45°? The Monster Square is primarily designed for 90° and 45° positioning. Optional add-on edge alignment pins are available to achieve additional angles like 60°, 30°, and parallel lines.
How do the mounting tabs work? The tapped holes on the sides accommodate mounting tabs that grip workpieces securely and prevent twisting during welding. The tabs feature a radius design that also allows traditional speed square layout work.
What is the advantage of the aluminum version over cast iron? The aluminum version weighs 1.1 kg compared to 3.1 kg for cast iron, making it significantly lighter and more portable for mobile welding operations. However, cast iron offers superior durability for stationary, heavy-duty applications and better resistance to spatter with the Dragon Scale coating.
