Description

Usage

The universal combined tap with 1/4" shank and M4 thread size is used for drilling and tapping threads in one operation, suitable for assembly work and small batch production on various metals and plastics.

Advantages

  • Performs drilling, threading, and deburring in a single pass, saving time during fabrication.
  • Hexagonal 1/4" shank ensures secure grip in standard chucks or bit holders.
  • Compatible with electric hand drills (reversible) and vertical drill presses for versatile applications.
  • Processes materials up to 600 N/mm² tensile strength, including steel, non-ferrous metals, and plastics.
  • The maximum thread depth achieved is limited to the diameter of the tap (1 x D), best suited for through holes only.

Specifications

  • Design: Combined bit made from high-speed steel (HSS) with hexagonal shank; integrates drilling tip followed by threading section.
  • Main materials handled: Steel, aluminum alloys, brass, copper alloys, certain plastics; optimal up to a tensile strength of 600 N/mm².
Durability depends on correct use—appropriate cutting oil recommended for longer tool life.
Conforms to industry standards for hand-held machine taps.
  • Thread size: M4
Shank type: Hexagonal ISO standard (1/4 inch)
Typical length: approximately comparable models are around 59 mm overall length.
Suitable hole depth: up to thread diameter per pass (M4 = max. ~4 mm).
  • Differentiating feature: Enables quick transition between hole making and internal threading without tool changes—particularly valuable when repetitive tapping tasks are required during installation or light manufacturing workflows.

How it works

The tool first drills a pilot hole then immediately cuts an internal metric M4 thread as it advances. Designed for use with appropriately aligned reversible drills or presses; applying cutting lubricant improves performance on tougher materials.
