Usage
The Abloy EL560 solenoid mortise lock is designed for solid wooden or metal doors requiring controlled access from one side, suitable for offices, commercial premises, emergency exits, and fire doors in medium-traffic environments.
Advantages

- Backset: standard at 55 mm. Faceplate: standard width of 20 mm. Handle distance: PZ72 mm. Bolt throw: deadbolt projects by 20 mm when locked. Power supply: operates from either a regulated DC source of between12–24 VDC. Idle current draw is approximately130 mA@12V or65 mA@24V; max up to400 mA depending on status[4][1]. Operational temperature range: -20 °C to +60 °C[4].
- Differentiating features include mechanical override by europrofile cylinder, lock monitoring contacts (status outputs), selectable fail-locked/fail-unlocked modes via wiring/jumpers on the lock body[1][3]. The inside handle always opens the lock mechanically as an emergency/exit function (“antipanic”). Installation possible in DIN right or left style doors without adaptation (“non-handed”)[9]. Compatible with most European-standard fittings but not suitable for automatic swing door drives.
How it works
The EL560 locks automatically when the door closes by deploying both its latch bolt and deadbolt. The external handle’s operation is electrically controlled—power unlocks it based on access system input—while internal egress remains mechanical at all times via the inside handle. A key cylinder provides additional manual override capability if needed[1][3][4]. Monitoring outputs provide real-time status feedback to connected security systems or building management controls.
