Usage
The GESIPA standard blind rivet in aluminum/steel with a flat head (Ø3x5mm) is used for fastening thin materials where access is available from only one side. Ideal for assembly and repairs in sheet metal, automotive, or industrial applications.
Advantages
- Allows quick and reliable joining of different material types
- Flat head design provides a neat surface finish and broad support area
- Suits applications where only rear-side access is possible (“blind” riveting)
- Corrosion-resistant connection due to aluminum rivet body and galvanized steel mandrel
- Lightweight construction reduces overall component weight; may not offer the load-bearing strength of larger diameter or fully steel rivets if maximum shear force is required[1]
Specifications
- The body is made from an aluminum alloy; the mandrel is crafted from galvanized steel[1]
- No special certification, but designed per industry-standard GESIPA quality controls for consistent performance[1]
- Suits pre-drilled holes approximately Ø3 mm; recommended grip range generally corresponds to material thickness up to about the length of the rivet (5 mm); actual measurable strength depends on application specifics[1][2]
- Dome (flat) head offers a good contact surface, reducing deformation on softer materials; standard blind rivet configuration enables fast manual or tool-assisted installation[1]
How it works
This blind rivet installs with compatible riveting pliers. Inserted into a pre-drilled hole, pulling the mandrel expands and locks the aluminum body against the rear material, securing parts together when front-side access alone is possible.
