Usage
The Abloy EL460 mortise solenoid lock is designed for electrically controlled access to medium-traffic doors in commercial, institutional, or public buildings. Suitable for fire and emergency exit doors where one-side control and reliable security are required.
Advantages
- Compatible with both fail-locked and fail-unlocked modes for flexible security management
- Panic/exit function always allows safe egress from the inside handle
- Automatic self-locking upon door closure ensures secure two-point locking
- Burglar-resistant design with a solid deadbolt (20 mm throw)
- Low power consumption (typically 130 mA at 12 VDC) reduces operational costs
Specifications
- Narrow-profile DIN mortise design with a split spindle for single-sided handle control; stainless steel faceplate, backset: 30 mm, distance: 92 mm, faceplate width: 24 mm, length: 300 mm, follower: 8/9 mm; net weight approx. 1.3 kg.
- Satisfies EN14846 (electric lock standard), EN179 (emergency exit), EN1125 (panic exit), EN1634-1 (fire resistance), and tested burglar resistance according to EN1627 standards.
- Operating voltage range of DC 12–24 V (±10%); idle current approx. 130 mA at 12 VDC / 65 mA at 24 VDC; maximum current up to 400 mA; operating temperature from –20°C to +60°C.
- Differentiating features include monitoring contacts for bolt position, key operation, handle status, and door status as well as mechanical override by cylinder from either side; universal handing (left/right).
How it works
The EL460 unlocks the outside handle electronically via access control or remote devices. When activated or during power loss depending on mode selected (“fail-secure” or “fail-safe”), the outside handle becomes operational. The inside handle always allows free egress through its panic function.
